
The people of Irete and the entire Owerri zone are preparing for a historic celebration as Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji, a proud son of Ndi Owerri, is honored with multiple chieftaincy titles across four kingdoms, culminating in the official commissioning of the Benedict Amaechi Ugorji Free Public Library, a landmark donation to his people.
Four Chieftaincy Titles, One Distinguished Son
Before the grand commissioning in Irete, Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji will be conferred with prestigious traditional titles in three ancient kingdoms:
- Onwa na Etiri Oha of Umuguma, by HRM Eze Dr. George N. Ugorji, Ezeohamere IV of Umuguma Ancient Kingdom.
- Egbe ana agba na Anyanwu I of Okuku, by HRH Eze Paul Unawunwa, Eze Udo II of Okuku.
- Igwejiuba – Umunwoha, by HRH Eze Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ejiogu, Eze Oha II of Umunwoha.
The climax of these honors will be in his hometown, Irete, where he will be decorated with the title Ogbuefi Irete Agubiam by HRH Eze Dr. E. C. Ekwelibe (KSM, KSS), Agubiam I of Irete—Ezechimere.
Commissioning of Benedict Amaechi Ugorji Free Public Library
The celebrations will also mark the official opening of the Benedict Amaechi Ugorji Free Public Library, a flagship initiative of the Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji Foundation, built to serve as a center of literacy, research, and community empowerment for Ndi Owerri.
The commissioning will be performed by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha (Omenkeahuruanya), former Governor of Imo State, in what is expected to be a moment of pride for both Irete and the entire Owerri zone.
A Grand Reception
Following the conferment and commissioning, a grand reception will be held at the Community Primary School, Irete, on 30th December 2025. The event promises to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, and well-wishers from within and beyond Imo State.
